How Assess to Lift Supports Learners
Who is Entitled to Learning Support?
Assess to Lift is committed to providing learning support to every student that enrols into a course with us.
We want for every student’s learning journey to be outstanding in every respect. This is why we assess every student’s individual learning needs and put arrangements in place to support each and every student that enrols into a course with us.
What are Reasonable Adjustments and Who Might Need them?
The term reasonable adjustment refers to adjustments made in training and assessment to enable students with disabilities or other needs to participate fully and succeed on the same basis as another student.
Reasonable adjustments can be made in response to a student’s:
· Language, literacy, numeracy or digital skill levels
· Disability or health condition
· Indigenous background (Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people)
Are there Limitations to Reasonable Adjustments?
Yes. Every Nationally Recognised Training Program has benchmarks that must be achieved for a student to be deemed competent. If a student lacks the ability to meet these benchmarks, Assess to Lift cannot allow for the student to proceed with their enrolment.
Do Reasonable Adjustments Increase Course Fees?
Most reasonable adjustments are made free of charge.
If a reasonable adjustment is requested that comes at significant administration or resource costs, these costs will be passed on to the student/person requesting the adjustments. In the rare instances where this occurs, the student/person requesting the adjustments will be notified of these costs ahead of the enrolment being finalised.
How can a Request for a Reasonable Adjustment be made?
In most cases, a student can complete the enrolment application form which will trigger for appropriate reasonable adjustments to be made on their behalf. This is why we ask that students disclose a disability or any other circumstance that would otherwise prevent them from participating on the same level as another student. The information will be kept confidential and will be used to support the individual student in their learning journey with us.
Students with specific needs can however contact us before booking, provide comments in their enrolment application form, or can talk to their course facilitators and administration staff so that reasonable adjustments can be made.
