TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck - Nationally recognised unit of competency training.

This course is only suitable for students who possess current practical skills and have the time and dedication to learn the theory and calculations component prior to course commencement.

The first day of the course will include a review of current practical skills and knowledge as well as an informal assessment of theory, calculations, and practical driving skills. Any gaps in knowledge or skill will be addressed during this time. A student must be deemed satisfactory on the first day to qualify to sit a licencing assessment which is conducted on the second day of the course. The licencing assessment is also conducted across the areas of knowledge, calculations, and practical driving.

The cost of this course is $390 with an additional licence application fee of $81 which is payable to the Post Office upon successful completion (subject to CPI.) A free re-assessment is not provided in this course package.

Legislative framework requires for students enrolling in this course to be at least 18 years old and to be capable of completing assessment tasks in English. Students will also need to provide original and approved forms of Evidence of Identity to sit a licencing assessment. A list of approved cards and documents can be found on our

Course components

All courses delivered in the national unit of competency TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift will cover the theoretical and practical application of the following topics:

  1. Legislative requirements
  2. Hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control
  3. Communication and traffic management
  4. Planning and preparing for the work tasks

5. Working near powerlines

  1. Refuelling and recharging
  2. Conducting safety checks on the forklift
  3. Performing the work tasks
  4. Emergency situations
  5. Parking, shutting down and securing the forklift
  6. Load calculation and load assessment

The 2- day advanced course will require students to learn and retain the theory and calculations component prior to course commencement. The student will need to possess an average to high level of literacy and numeracy to enrol in this course.

Students enrolling in this course will need to complete the enrolment application form as well as an advanced course application form to confirm course suitability.
