CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (white card)

This one-day training and assessment program runs from 7.45-3.45 with successful completion leading to a white card being issued.

Please note that it is a legal requirement for students to undertake a minimum of 6 hours training and assessment so we need for students to arrive on time.

This program is suitable for people wanting to enter or re-enter work in the construction industry. It is a requirement for any worker in the construction industry to undergo general construction induction training and obtain a white card before working on a construction site.

The cost of this course is $115 which includes access to all required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and high visibility clothing) and includes the cost of the actual physical white card which will be posted by Safework NSW upon successful course completion.  A free re-assessment is provided to students who enrol in and attend this course.

It is a legal requirement for students enrolling in this course to be at least 14 years old and to be capable of completing assessment tasks verbally. Students will also need to provide original and approved forms of Evidence of Identity to start the course. A list of approved cards and documents can be found on our course forms  page.

Course Overview
All courses delivered in the national unit of competency CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry will cover the following topics:

  • Hazard identification, risk assessment and control
  • WHS communication and reporting procedures
  • Incident and emergency response procedures
  • Current construction procedures including understanding commonly used signage and correct use of PPE


​All courses delivered in the national unit of competency CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry will require students to complete an enrolment application form within 48 hours of booking a course.
